Cynosure Elite Aesthetic Workstation
The Cynosure Elite laser system is extremely customizable, making it ideal for a small business seeking to expand its treatment offerings, without eclipsing their margins. The Elite features a combined dual-laser system: (1) a traditional 755 nm laser designed for the treatment of pigment defects and the reduction of unwanted body hair, and (2) a 1064 nm wavelength Nd:YAG laser—ideal for treating clients with darker or tanned skin—that is effective in reducing the appearance of vascular lesions, body hair, and other dermal defects.
A number of the Elite’s settings are adjustable. The Alexandrite laser can be switched between a number of spot sizes (3, 5, 7, 10, 12, and 15 mm). In addition, the pulse duration of the Elite can be changed, with a range from 0.4 to 300ms, with up to five pulses delivered per second. The maximum fluence for the 755 nm Alexandrite laser measures 25-125 J/cm2, while the 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser can deliver a maximum fluence of 35-300 J/cm2, depending on spot size.
Cynosure’s research team developed the Elite laser system with the understanding that no one wavelength can treat all skin types and colors. This is why they incorporated two lasers into a single unit, which can be easily switched between at will. A clinician can be performing a laser hair reduction treatment on a client with fair, type I skin, and in less than 30 seconds, switch over to the 1064 nm laser in order to treat angiomas on the face of a patient with type V skin. Additionally, the Nd:YAG laser can be operating from a cold start in less than seven seconds. This allows treatment specialists to greatly increase the number of patients seen in a given period of time, increasing turnover efficiency and the profitability of your practice.
Cynosure designs the handpieces for all of their systems to be as comfortable as possible for both operator and patient. The lightweight Cynosure Elite handpieces are no exception, making it easy for users to work for hours at a time, without hand, wrist, or arm discomfort. Meanwhile, the SmartCool chiller handpiece attachment keeps clients’ skin temperatures cool and comfortable, resulting in minimal discomfort during procedures.
Cynosure Elite MPX Aesthetic Workstation
Cynosure’s Elite systems have been a mainstay in the industry for more than 10 years. More recently, Cynosure has sought to improve upon that success with the introduction of the Elite MPX Aesthetic Workstation. The MPX features Multiplex technology, which can deliver alternating pulses of 755 nm and 1064 nm light from the Alexandrite and Nd:YAG lasers, a much more efficacious mode of treatment for hair removal and vein reduction.
The newer model further builds on its predecessor with the introduction of the IPL (intense pulsed light) option. Thanks to this addition, a number of new treatments can be performed with the same system, including the treatment of discolored skin and nails, rosacea and redness, pigmented lesions difficult to treat with other methods, and damage to skin caused by age and exposure to sunlight. The handpieces of the earlier Elite model featured adjustable spot sizes ranging from 3 to 15 mm. The MPX includes these same options, while also offering three new, larger spot sizes: 20, 22, and 24 mm. The MPX's improved handpiece, the Cynosure Xenon Pulsed Light (XPL2), maintains the lightweight, easy to use form factor of the previous model, but with shorter treatment times and additional interchangeable filters. Like the original, the Cynosure MPX’s handpieces incorporate the Zimmer SmartCool system, using air cooling to maintain comfortable skin temperatures during treatment.
Lastly, the new Elite MPX has a full-color user interface, powered by the Windows XP operating system. New options and programs can be downloaded via updates, and the MPX’s data storage can be synced with existing electronic medical records.
The MPX can transform the treatment regimens of clinics and treatment centers, increasing the number of clients seen and revenue earned, without diminishing the effectiveness of the treatments offered.
With the rapid growth in demand for tattoo removal treatments, Cynosure sought to set the benchmark for effectiveness and safety with the introduction of the Cynosure PicoSure. The Picosure tattoo removal system uses a dual-laser system to diminish and eliminate the appearance of tattoos more quickly than ever. The long-used 755 nm wavelength is ideal for treating darker colors of ink, such as green, blue, and black. The newly-introduced 532 nm wavelength laser is the best solution for attacking previously difficult to target lighter colors of ink, such as red, orange, and yellow. Given the much wider color spectrum used in modern tattoos, this improvement has become an absolute necessity in the past few years.
Instead of the longer multiple nanosecond laser pulses used in older laser systems, the PicoSure’s advanced technology can fire pulses in the picosecond range, resulting in needing only half the fluence of traditional Q-switched systems. This technology, patented under the name PressureWave, improves the rate of energy absorption. Inks are broken up more quickly and into smaller particles that the body can readily absorb and destroy.
But the PicoSure can do much more than just remove tattoos. The PicoSure FOCUS Lens Array, in conjunction with the PicoSure system, can be used for other widely-demanded treatments, such as the reduction of acne scars, wrinkles, and a variety of pigmented lesions. The PicoSure FOCUS reduces the focus size of the PicoSure’s laser to 1/20th of its normal spot size. This tighter focus greatly increases the production of elastin and collagen, while cutting down on the fluence to which surrounding tissue is exposed. This keeps the damage of epidermal skin to an absolute minimum, maximizing patient comfort.
